Our Mission.
Our mission is to transform early care and education (ECE) so that every young child in America has access to high-quality, sustainable care and learning. We believe that every early care and education director (center-or home-based) deserves administrative support, that every teacher deserves guidance from an experienced pedagogical leader, and that every child deserves a skilled, reflective teacher.
We envision a future where practitioners are well compensated, work in supportive environments, and have the tools they need to help children and families thrive. Effective teaching and learning require not only skilled educators and strong leadership, but also stable, predictable finances.
To that end, our focus is on strengthening ECE businesses by unleashing the power of business automation tools, tracking business metrics, forming Shared Service Alliances, and crafting policy solutions that respond to the real-world needs of practitioners and the families they serve.
Our Background.
Opportunities Exchange is a nonprofit consulting group cofounded in 2009 by Louise Stoney. Louise, who spent many years working on ECE policy and finance, recognized that the field faced daunting fiscal and administrative issues and believed a new frame was needed to question, and subsequently reinvent, the prevailing child care business model. In time other partners have joined the team, bringing a diverse array of skills focused on modern technology, data-driven decision-making, financial sustainability, new business models, innovative policy and more.
Our fiscal sponsor is Social and Environmental Entrepreneurs (SEE), whose mission is to empower, encourage, and catalyze projects that facilitate progressive change in areas of social and environmental justice.
